I am a Mental Health Therapist whose focus is helping people of all ages become more emotionally and cognitively healthy. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor through the State of Washington Department of Health. I am also a trained Learning Disabilities Specialist.
I have a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from City University of Seattle and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. I am a trained Learning Disability Assessment Specialist through the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges and provide learning disability testing services for local psychologists to diagnose LD.
I am particularly experienced in supporting teens, adults and families impacted by learning disabilities (LD), ADHD, anxiety disorders and issues due to changes in life such as unemployment or disability. As an experienced ADHD coach for students, I offer weekly structured tutoring services to help students stay focused and keep on track with their school work.
I also love to work with people experiencing problems with relationships, anxiety, depression or other challenges, such as helping parents reconnect with their children. As a Learning Specialist and Therapist, I use a science based therapeutic approach to helping my clients become more in tune with their thoughts and feelings.
I am the owner of Connects Counseling, and also work as a private psychometrist. Previously I was employed as a Project Coordinator and Learning Specialist at Renton Technical College, overseeing several highly successful projects to help colleges improve services to students, primarily using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and brain-based teaching. I assist colleges in understanding how students learn and how various disabilities may impact learning, as well as what instructors and other staff can do to help.
Prior experience includes being the founding manager of one of the nation’s first One-Stop Employment and Training Centers which won multiple national awards for customer service. This included managing King County's dislocated workers programs and providing career counseling to many displaced and disabled workers.
I also directed the start-up of the Stay in School program, a county-wide drop-out prevention program for at-risk youth, encompassing over 20 middle and high schools.
I love helping people find their own unique strengths in learning, relationships and life!
